Spen Valley Scouting - 11th Spen Valley Scout Group, Hunsworth, Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire

The 11^th Spen Valley (Hunsworth) Scout Group are holding a summer faire to be held on Sunday 16^th May 2009 between 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the recreation ground in Hunsworth.

Entry is free and all the fun starts at 2:00 p.m. so why not come along for a fun afternoon!

Derek's funeral will be held on Monday 23rd November, 1pm Birkenshaw Church, followed by Dewsbury Crematorium & Whitcliffe Hotel.
Uniform Members please attend in Uniform.

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you all of the death earlier today of Derek Lomas due to illness.
As soon as funeral arrangements are know an update will be posted.

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you all of the death last Thursday of Margaret Lomas after a long illness.
Margaret's funeral service is on Thursday 20th at St.Paul's Birkenshaw at 1.00pm
followed by cremation at Dewsbury at 2.00pm.

Derek has been a Scout all his life. He was probably a scout before that as well although that can not be said with the same sort of certainty as other elements of his scouting life.

Derek has been and remains an active member of the 11th (Hunsworth) Scout Group as he has for the last 30 years. One way or another Derek has played a part in just about all areas of work with children at the 11th Scout Group supporting activities both at home in the headquarters and away on camps.

Assistant Cub Scout leader Catherine Schofield has, through hard work and dedication, achieved the honour of becoming a Queen's Scout.

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Leaders, Parents and Supporters of the 11th Spen Valley (Hunsworth) Scout Group donned their walking boots to take part in a sponsored walk along the Spen Valley Greenway.

Despite the slippery underfoot conditions, Beavers and Cubs, who were accompanied by several leaders and parents completed 5 miles, whilst the Scouts, leaders and one intrepid parent tackled a 10 mile route.

The 11th Cubs Won this years Cub Competition, which was held on Saturday 19th April 2008

Two teams of two Scouts from the 11th Entered the Annual Spen Valley Cooking Cooking Competition, and both teams were placed in the top 3, with 1 team even managing to secure first place.

28th July - 4th August 2007, Saw 7 Scouts & 5 Leaders join 4 Leaders and 14 Scouts from the 5th Spen Valley and visit the Walesby World Experience, in Nottighamshire.
